It has been said that to believe in God you only need one answered prayer. Well, to believe in communications from the next world perhaps it also needs just one evidential message.
During the course of my life I have received many, many evidential messages and I have also heard such messages received by others in my church. I thought I would relate two such messages — one received by me personally and one received by a friend whom I had taken to an Evening of Mediumship and it was her very first visit.
When my mother died she left behind her a mink coat. She was of the generation which thought fur coats were a status symbol while I thought it was disgusting for any woman to wear on her person, the body of a murdered animal. I had repeatedly told my mother not to die and leave me with that fur coat, but of course she did! Well — what to do with it? I wanted it destroyed completely and, not having a garden in which to burn it, I could do nothing else but cut it up into small pieces and put it out bit by bit with the refuse. This I did saying a prayer with every cut for the poor little minks whose lives had been sacrificed to women’s vanity.
Two years or so later I heard of an excellent medium who lived in Lossiemouth (which is approximately 59 miles from my home in Aberdeen.) My cousin and I decided to make it a day’s outing and I booked a reading for us both. We had a delightful run up the Moray coast, lunch at the Harbour Tea Rooms in Lossiemouth and then made our way to the medium’s attractive bungalow home in the suburbs. I was given an excellent reading by the medium but one thing she told me almost made me fall off my seat. “Your mother forgives you for what you did to her fur coat.” Now I would emphasize that the medium was a complete stranger to me, she lived many miles away from me, the destruction of the fur coat had happened over two years previously and in fact I had almost forgotten the whole incident. I have no regrets for what I did and I would do exactly the same again. However I do think that this was one of the most evidential messages that I have ever received.
The second evidential message I want to speak about was given to a friend of mine who was suffering from terminal cancer. She had expressed an interest in Spiritualism so I took her to this Evening of Mediumship where the medium was Nita Saunders from Edinburgh and I knew what an excellent medium she was. A few messages were given out and then Nita came to my friend. She gave her a beautiful message from her husband in the next world who said he was waiting for her to join him and then Nita said something quite extraordinary. “Your husband is telling me that he danced with the Queen.” There was a ripple of interest from the audience at this but my friend accepted the remark. “Oh yes” she said “he has danced with the Queen.” Nothing further was said about this and Nita left her to give further messages. On the way home after the meeting I asked my friend about this rather strange message and this is what she told me. Her (future) husband, a young army officer from a Canadian regiment, had been stationed at Windsor Castle. There was to be a ball and several of the young officers had been chosen to dance with the then Princess Elizabeth and he was one of them. Of course this was something he never forgot. He married my friend and they both moved to live in Canada and she only returned to Scotland after his death. My friend was absolutely elated at the wonderful message she had received and I was so pleased I had taken her to the meeting. Eventually she lost her battle with the cancer and died a year or so later but I know she had no fear at the end knowing that her beloved husband would be there to meet her.
I hope that the above will bring comfort to those suffering from bereavement and encourage them to seek proof of the continuance of life in the next world.
